Aceh Tamiang, Indonesia – The Branch Leadership Council (DPC) of Badan Advokasi Indonesia (BAI) Aceh Tamiang, together with the Regional Leadership Council (DPD) of Sekber Wartawan Indonesia (SWI) Aceh Tamiang, emphasized that public information disclosure is one of the key pillars in promoting regional development, increasing public participation, and realizing transparent and accountable governance. The dialogue meeting was held at Syabab Coffee, Karang Baru District, Aceh Tamiang, on Thursday (June 11, 2026).
Syamsul, Chairman of DPC BAI Aceh Tamiang, alongside Hendriko Lubis, Chairman of DPD SWI Aceh Tamiang, stated that the public has the right to obtain accurate, reliable, and easily accessible information regarding government administration, development programs, and the use of public funds. This right is guaranteed under Indonesia’s Law No. 14 of 2008 on Public Information Disclosure (KIP), which aims to enhance transparency, accountability, and public participation in the regional development process.
According to both leaders, information disclosure is not only an obligation of public institutions but also an important means of building public trust in the government. By providing open access to information, citizens can actively monitor development programs, offer constructive input, and participate in policymaking processes that directly affect their lives. This also includes information regarding stimulant assistance programs such as Living Allowance Assistance (Jaminan Hidup/Jadup), household equipment assistance, economic recovery assistance, and housing rehabilitation assistance for lightly, moderately, and heavily damaged homes, particularly in Aceh Tamiang, where such information is highly anticipated by the community.
“Regions that are open to information tend to develop more effectively because public oversight, community participation, and clean, responsible governance can flourish. Information disclosure serves the public interest and is a fundamental foundation for sustainable development,” said Syamsul, Chairman of DPC BAI Aceh Tamiang.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of DPD SWI Aceh Tamiang highlighted the strategic role of the press as a bridge between the government and the public. Through professional journalism, the media can help disseminate public information while simultaneously encouraging a culture of transparency within government institutions and public bodies.
“Public information disclosure is not merely about providing data to the public; it is also about building public trust in the government. With transparent information, citizens can actively participate in regional development,” Hendriko stated.
Both organizations also called on all public institutions in Aceh Tamiang to continue improving information services through Information and Documentation Management Officers (PPID), the utilization of digital technology, and the provision of information that is timely, accurate, and easy for the public to understand. These efforts are considered essential to supporting open governance and delivering high-quality public services.
DPC BAI Aceh Tamiang and DPD SWI Aceh Tamiang expressed their hope that the spirit of public information disclosure will become a shared culture in building a more advanced, transparent, and community-oriented Aceh Tamiang.
