ACEH TAMIANG – A warm and committed atmosphere marked the meeting between the leadership of the Indonesian Advocacy Agency (Badan Advokasi Indonesia/BAI) Aceh Tamiang Branch and the Aceh Tamiang Police Chief, Robby Ansyary, S.I.K., M.H., on Monday, August 10, 2026.
The meeting was held in the Aceh Tamiang Police Chief’s office and served as an important opportunity to strengthen communication, synergy, and coordination between a community advocacy organization and the police institution in supporting a safe, orderly, and law-abiding environment in Aceh Tamiang.
The meeting was not merely a courtesy visit, but also provided a forum to discuss various social and legal issues developing in the community, particularly the growing threat of online gambling.
The DPC BAI Aceh Tamiang delegation was led by Chairman Syamsul, accompanied by Secretary Saut Isak Parulian Simanjuntak, Treasurer Muhammad Zulzain, S.E., Head of the Legal and Human Rights Division Satria Maimun Syah, S.H., Deputy Head of the Legal and Human Rights Division I Dewi Kartika, S.H., Deputy Head of the Legal and Human Rights Division II Atin Nilawati, S.H., M.H., and Head of the Investigation Division Juliardi.
Meanwhile, Aceh Tamiang Police Chief Robby Ansyary, S.I.K., M.H., received the DPC BAI delegation accompanied by Deputy Police Chief Rubby Nanda, S.H., S.I.K., M.H., as well as relevant officials, including the Head of Intelligence and Security Unit and the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit.
During the meeting, DPC BAI Aceh Tamiang highlighted the increasingly concerning phenomenon of online gambling, which not only targets adults but also has the potential to reach younger generations through digital devices and online platforms.

The statement, conveyed by the Police Chief, illustrates a cycle that can trap individuals in gambling. When someone wins, the desire to play again may increase. When they lose, curiosity and the desire to recover their losses can encourage them to gamble even more money.
DPC BAI Aceh Tamiang emphasized that the impact of online gambling goes far beyond financial losses. It can trigger a wider range of social problems, including family conflicts, divorce, debt, economic hardship, and even the potential for other criminal acts driven by the desire to obtain money quickly.
During the meeting, DPC BAI Aceh Tamiang also stressed the importance of strengthening legal education and prevention efforts within the community. People need to understand that online gambling is not a legitimate way to generate income, but an activity carrying serious legal, financial, and social risks.
The Aceh Tamiang Police Chief warmly welcomed the meeting. The discussion took place in a communicative and constructive atmosphere, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening cooperation between law enforcement authorities and community organizations in maintaining public security and order.
“Combating online gambling requires the involvement of all parties. It cannot rely solely on law enforcement. The roles of families, local governments, educational institutions, community leaders, civil society organizations, and the public itself are equally important,” the Police Chief said.
Online gambling may begin with just one click, but its consequences can be long-lasting. Curiosity can turn into a habit; a habit can develop into dependency; and dependency can ultimately damage financial stability and family harmony.
The public is encouraged to report suspected illegal activities to the police through Police Call Center 110 and to avoid taking matters into their own hands.
Chairman of DPC BAI Aceh Tamiang Syamsul called on the community not to provide any space for online gambling practices.
“If you encounter suspected online gambling activities, the public is encouraged to use official reporting channels and report them to law enforcement authorities rather than taking matters into their own hands,” Syamsul said.
The meeting is expected to strengthen communication and cooperation between DPC BAI Aceh Tamiang and the Aceh Tamiang Police, particularly in raising legal awareness and creating a safer, more orderly community free from the grip of online gambling.
