ACEH TAMIANG – The Aceh Government, through the Aceh Social Affairs Office, has distributed Social Assistance for Productive Economic Enterprises (UEP) to residents of Aceh Tamiang affected by the 2025 hydrometeorological disaster. This initiative represents a concrete government effort to accelerate post-flood economic recovery, particularly for communities whose businesses and sources of livelihood were severely disrupted by the disaster.
The assistance was formally handed over by the Head of the Aceh Social Affairs Office through Safwan, S.Ag., M.M., serving as the Activity Technical Implementation Officer (PPTK) for the Poverty Alleviation Division, to the Regent of Aceh Tamiang, represented by Acting Head of the Aceh Tamiang Social Affairs Office, Ahmad Yani, S.STP., M.Si. The handover ceremony took place at the Aceh Tamiang Sports Hall (GOR) on Wednesday, November 4, 2026.
The event was also attended by the Assistant for Administration and Finance, Ir. M. Zein; Head of the Social Empowerment and Poverty Alleviation Division, Ilham Ageng Pranata, S.T.; and Member of Commission III of the Aceh Tamiang Regional House of Representatives (DPRK), Muazzin. Their presence highlighted the importance of cross-sector cooperation between the executive and legislative branches in ensuring that social assistance reaches the communities that need it most.
The assistance covered several productive business sectors, including sewing equipment, culinary businesses, cake-making enterprises, small retail shops, and vehicle washing businesses (doorsmeer). These various forms of support are intended to help residents rebuild economic activities that were halted by the disaster while creating new business opportunities for beneficiary families.
The program is expected to serve not merely as temporary relief but as an economic stimulus to restore entrepreneurial spirit, strengthen financial independence, and increase household income. With access to business equipment and supporting facilities, beneficiaries are expected to resume productive activities, develop sustainable enterprises, and gradually reduce their dependence on social assistance.
The distribution of Productive Economic Enterprise assistance marks an important milestone in Aceh Tamiang’s post-disaster recovery efforts. True recovery, after all, should not be measured solely by the reconstruction of homes and public facilities, but also by the revival of the people’s economy. Through well-targeted assistance, accompanied by continuous mentoring and supervision, the government hopes to transform the hardship caused by disaster into a new momentum for economic revival and renewed hope for the people of Aceh Tamiang.
