ACEH TAMIANG — Strengthening access to justice and improving public services were the main topics discussed during an audience and courtesy meeting between the management of the Indonesian Advocacy Agency (Badan Advokasi Indonesia/BAI), Aceh Tamiang Branch, and the Chairman of the Aceh Tamiang Regional House of Representatives (DPRK), Fadlon, S.H., on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.
The meeting, held in the Plenary Room of the Aceh Tamiang DPRK, focused on strengthening Legal Aid Posts (Pos Bantuan Hukum/Posbankum) and exploring opportunities for institutional collaboration to address the public’s need for legal information, legal assistance, and improved public services.

The DPC BAI Aceh Tamiang delegation was led by Chairman Syamsul, accompanied by Secretary Saut Isak Parulian Simanjuntak, Head of Investigation Juliardi, and Head of Membership Syafrial. The presence of the organization’s leadership reflected its commitment to strengthening institutional communication and creating opportunities for dialogue on various community issues requiring attention and appropriate handling in accordance with applicable laws and the respective authorities of each institution.
One of the key issues discussed was the optimization of Posbankum as a means of bringing legal services closer to the community. These Legal Aid Posts are expected to help residents access legal information, obtain preliminary consultations, and receive guidance on the appropriate procedures for resolving legal problems. Strengthening these services is also considered essential to raising public legal awareness, ensuring that people do not feel alone when facing legal or administrative challenges.
During the meeting, DPRK Chairman Fadlon, S.H., engaged in dialogue with DPC BAI Aceh Tamiang regarding public service needs and potential areas of future cooperation. In the interest of the public, collaboration between the legislative institution and the advocacy organization is expected to expand communication, gather community aspirations, and encourage the proper channeling of public concerns.
“Public services must be a shared priority. Good communication and collaboration are necessary to ensure that community aspirations can be followed up in accordance with the applicable regulations and the respective authorities of each institution,” Fadlon said.
DPC BAI Aceh Tamiang Chairman Syamsul emphasized the importance of building constructive relations with the DPRK for the benefit of the community. He stated that an advocacy organization must deliver tangible benefits, particularly by helping people understand their legal rights and gain access to the services they need.
“We want Posbankum to truly become a gateway to justice for the community. Synergy with the DPRK and other relevant stakeholders is essential to ensure that residents’ concerns are addressed in a structured, professional manner and within the framework of the law,” Syamsul stated.
Meanwhile, DPC BAI Aceh Tamiang Secretary Saut Isak Parulian Simanjuntak described the audience as an important step toward strengthening communication and establishing cooperation focused on community needs. He stressed that the ideas discussed must be followed by clear coordination and concrete action so that the meeting would not remain merely a formal gathering.
“This meeting provides an opportunity to establish a common understanding and strengthen coordination. We hope that discussions concerning Posbankum and public services will be followed up with concrete measures that deliver real benefits to the community,” he said.
The audience and courtesy meeting marked an important moment in strengthening relations between DPC BAI Aceh Tamiang and the Aceh Tamiang DPRK in support of more responsive public services. Going forward, follow-up measures—including coordination, assessment of community needs, and the development of realistic programs—are expected to improve access to legal assistance and increase public understanding of legal rights and responsibilities.
