ACEH TAMIANG — The five-year journey of KOMANDAN (Komunitas Anak Medan) was not marked by celebration alone. Amid the momentum of Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day, the community chose to express gratitude through real action by holding a social service program on 16–17 August 2026.
The social service activity was coordinated by KOMANDAN’s Social Division, consisting of Umar Dhani, M. Yusuf Nasution, Lilik, and Budi Jo. The program was carried out under the direction of KOMANDAN Chairman Hendry Wijaya and Daily Chairman Jumarwan. In its implementation, KOMANDAN also received support from the Erni Afriani Charity Team and the Chairman of BAI Aceh Tamiang, Syamsul, who also took part in the series of social activities.

A total of 350 sacks of rice, weighing 1.5 tons, along with 100 boxes of cream milk, were distributed to communities in areas in Aceh Tamiang, like Tupah village, Bukit Rata, and Bukit Tempurung.
The assistance included 200 sacks of 5-kilogram rice and 50 sacks of 10-kilogram rice, which were evenly distributed to the target areas.
For KOMANDAN, five years is not merely a passage of time. It is a reflection of how togetherness can grow into solidarity and ultimately be transformed into care for others.
The anniversary celebration did not stop at ceremonial events. KOMANDAN chose to go directly into the field, mobilizing concern and delivering assistance that could be felt by the community.
The message is simple yet powerful: a strong community is not defined by the number of its members, but by how much benefit it can bring to society.
Special attention was given to the people of Aceh Tamiang, who are still dealing with the impact of the floods that occurred in November 2025.
Amid the recovery process, the assistance is expected to become a small part of the spirit to rise again and rebuild life.
“We hope that the people of Aceh Tamiang can recover and rise again from the impact of the 2025 floods. May the community become stronger, life return to normal, and may they always be given health and patience in facing every challenge,” said KOMANDAN Chairman Hendry Wijaya.
KOMANDAN realizes that the assistance provided is not enough to meet all community needs. However, care does not have to wait until it becomes large. Sometimes, a small step taken together can become a great hope for those in need.
Collaboration is an important strength to ensure that aid can move from donors to the communities that need it most. The 17 August Independence Day moment holds special meaning for KOMANDAN. Independence is not only seen as ceremonies, flags, and celebrations. The spirit of independence can also be realized through mutual cooperation, care, brotherhood, and the courage to be present in society.
Through this social service activity, KOMANDAN demonstrated that the spirit of independence can take a simple form: a sack of rice, a box of milk, and helping hands willing to serve.
Entering its 5th year, KOMANDAN emphasizes that the journey of a community is not merely about maintaining existence.
More than that, it is about preserving brotherhood, strengthening solidarity, and bringing benefits to the surrounding environment.
Not only growing in age, but also growing in care. Not just celebrating a journey, but leaving a legacy of kindness.
From togetherness comes care. From care comes action. And from real action, a community can truly exist within society.
