Aceh Tamiang, Indonesia – The Aceh Tamiang Branch of the Indonesian Advocacy Agency (DPC BAI Aceh Tamiang) has called on all parties involved in the implementation of the 2026 School Revitalization Assistance Program in Aceh Tamiang Regency to uphold the principles of transparency, accountability, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The statement was delivered in Karang Baru, Aceh Tamiang, on Monday, July 13, 2026.
The Chairman of DPC BAI Aceh Tamiang, Syamsul, stated that the school revitalization program is an important initiative aimed at improving the quality of education. However, since the program involves a significant amount of public funding, it carries a potential risk of budget irregularities if it is not properly supervised.
“Every program financed with public funds must be subject to public oversight. We urge that every stage—from the selection of beneficiary schools, planning, implementation, to reporting—be carried out transparently and in accordance with the law. Strong oversight is an effective preventive measure against potential irregularities,” he said.
The Secretary of DPC BAI Aceh Tamiang, Saut Isak Parulian Simanjuntak, emphasized that supervision is not intended to find fault, but rather to ensure that every public fund allocated genuinely results in safe, comfortable, and high-quality learning facilities for students.
According to him, schools with severe structural damage, those located in remote areas, and schools affected by natural disasters should be prioritized in the distribution of assistance so that the program delivers fair and meaningful benefits to the community.
DPC BAI also encouraged the regional government, internal supervisory bodies, law enforcement agencies, the Regional House of Representatives (DPRK), school committees, and the public to jointly monitor the implementation of the school revitalization program. Transparency regarding the list of beneficiary schools, budget allocations, project progress, and implementation outcomes is considered essential to strengthening public trust.
Furthermore, DPC BAI urged project implementers to refrain from reducing construction specifications, using substandard materials, or engaging in practices that violate legal provisions. The quality of school construction must remain the highest priority, as it directly concerns the safety and well-being of students and educational personnel.
“Every rupiah allocated to education is an investment in the future of our nation’s children. We must ensure that funds intended to provide proper educational facilities are not diminished by irregularities. Prevention is always better than enforcement,” Syamsul stressed.
DPC BAI Aceh Tamiang also reaffirmed its commitment to providing legal education to the public and receiving information submitted responsibly regarding alleged irregularities in the implementation of the program. Should there be indications of legal violations, they must be addressed based on credible evidence and through due legal process, while fully respecting the principle of the presumption of innocence.
